My mom has done Christmas on Christmas Eve since Meredith and I got married. That way we have once less stop on Christmas day, so we can spend more time at home with our children and their presents. This year, as well as last, we've chosen to do b'fast instead of a big dinner. We have waffles, country ham & biscuits, fruit, quiche and hash brown casserole. And what b'fast would be complete without Mimosa's?? It was yummy! This year mom had the little ones reenact the birth of Jesus. It was really sweet. Aiden, Abby & Nick were the three wise men. Max was Baby Jesus and Kim & Ben played Mary & Joseph. They all did great! Max especially. He just laid in his "manger" (which was a laundry basket) as content as can be, while mom read the story.
After the story, we sang happy birthday to baby Jesus. After all, it's not about the presents, it's about the Baby born in the Manger. And that's exactly what we are trying to teach our children. Each year, since my son's first Christmas, I make a birthday cake and we sing happy birthday to him.
Then we opened presents...
