Happy Saturday! I hope the weather is pretty where you are today! My name is Amy and I do my blogging over at For Love of Orange. I recently merged two former blogs (my family blog, The Flautt Family & my shop blog, A Little Love Stitched In) into this one. I would love to meet you. So if you stop by, please leave me a note. I would love to chat.
When our sweet, lovely, Crystal DM'd me and asked me to guest post...I had no idea what I’d write about. But then it hit me.
Last week was a tough week for me. My Lupus decided to rear its ugly head. I was diagnosed back in 2007 after my son was born. The doctors first thought it was arthritis, but after lots of tests, they found that it wasn't. I take 6 different medications, on a daily basis. Along with my Lupus, I have a blood clotting disorder, Raynaud's (that's where I loss all the feelings in my hands and feet. It's just like having a limb "fall asleep" and they go transparent white.) and now I’m also iron deficient. But for the most part, I do fine. The medicine works and I'm able to carry on with my daily routine. But there are the occasional "flair ups" that, all but, stop me in my tracks. I am Blessed to be able to stay at home with my two children (4 & 2), but on "those" days, it’s extremely tough. It's hard to function, it's hard to care for them and their needs (pouring a cup of milk or changing a diaper, are sometimes, all but, impossible). Just doing the daily mundane things I always do, turn into huge tasks that sometimes have to wait until my husband gets home. I’m talking about dishes; making a bed, brushing my teeth…you get the idea. It gets so bad sometimes, I just have to cry. The pain feels like my hands are going to snap off at the wrists. Trying to come down the stairs, I feel like my knees/legs could give out at any moment…and they have; in the middle of the night. Falling down the stairs at 2 in the morning, trying not to wake the rest of the family, is painful and scary.
I decided I would add a Lupus Awareness Ribbon to this post, and while searching the internet, I found that an Orange ribbon is used for Lupus. I thought that was a bit ironic, since my blog is titled For Love of Orange. They use purple as well, but since I'm a lover of all things orange, I’m going with the orange one. ;)
I also discovered that there is a Tattoo that symbolizes Lupus (a ribbon with a butterfly attached)…that may be my next tattoo. But that’s a different post.
Besides being a woman with Lupus, a mommy to two and a wife, I also have a handmade shop (Etsy Shop) where I make accessories for babies, mommies to be, as well as others.
I hope I haven’t bored you too much. I was honored to be a guest here at Domestic, But Not Martha. I hope you will come by and hang out with me sometime.
May God Bless You!
~Amy
